25G / 40G / 50G / 100G Ethernet & Storage Area Networks workshop

25G / 40G / 50G / 100G Ethernet & Storage Area Networks workshop

10 October 2018

The workshop is designed to meet the growing demand for developing robust high-speed Ethernet systems. It is aimed at development engineers who are developing the firmware and hardware in the systems themselves, or, those responsible for deploying and debugging robust systems - typically in communications, enterprise storage, finance and banking, or defence systems. it has never been more essential to have the correct tools to allow you to analyse the function and performance of Ethernet, quickly and reliably.

With the new "protocol" at the physical layer of high speed fabrics, the application of training sequences and next page Auto Negotiation information are new to the hardware design cycle and validation. This is required to bring up a stable link before the fabric even sees any frames, and dedicated protocol analysis equipment will allow hardware engineers to analyse and capture issues on these, and higher, protocol layers.

The workshop will focus on techniques for the testing of storage devices and systems utilising the Teledyne LeCroy protocol analysers.  By employing the error injection (Jammer) and Host/Device emulation capabilities of the protocol analysers we will explore methods for checking the operation and robustness of Ethernet (and Fibre Channel) links. There will be hands-on labs and opportunities to meet other engineers working on similar projects.

Attendees will learn about:

  • Ethernet overview: background, speed options, basic analysis
  • Manipulating and exporting traces and data files
  • Triggering and filtering to target areas of interest precisely
  • Methodology of error injection (Jamming)
  • Writing and Modifying Test Cases
  • Linking to other protocol analyser tools

Venue:  Maidenhead, UK.

Date:  Tuesday 10th October 2018

Cost: Free of charge including lunch.
